AirSweeps and Speed Switches
Energy Efficient Solutions to improve production and lower operating costs.
There are three sizes of Airsweeps.
VA-06 for small bins, hoppers, chutes, etc. Activates 2-3 feet diameter of material. Recommended 60 PSI VA-12 for medium to large bins, hoppers, chutes, etc. Activates 4-6 feet diameter of material. Recommended between 85 and 90 PSI VA-51 for large bins, hoppers, chutes, etc. Activates 6-8 feet diameter of material. Recommended between 85 and 90 PSI In addition to three sizes of Airsweeps there are our Standard Airsweep that has a 360° activation of material for controlled flow. We also have the Straight Shooter Airsweep is directed at the trouble spots to push the material down chutes and out of narrow transition sections. Use our Application Data Sheet to help determine which Airsweep is right for you. |

Effective & Reliable Bulk Material Processing Solutions
AirSweep® material flow systems provide on-demand flow of even the toughest materials by eliminating bridging, ratholes and build-up. Each powerful pulse of the AirSweep nozzle directs a high-pressure/high-volume, 360-degree burst of compressed air or gas between the material and vessel wall to lift and sweep stagnated material back into the flow stream. The nozzle design (U.S. Patent 6,237,893) ensures an immediate, dust-tight, reseal after each pulse, preventing clogging or material feedback.
For the VA-06, the recommended operation pressure is approximately 60 psi. Acceptable ranges are from 45 psi to 70 psi. The objective should be to operate at as low a pressure within these ranges as possible while maintaining the desired flow of material. This will not only keep the air consumption as low as possible but will also extend the life of the Airsweep.
A good procedure would be to set the pressure at 60 psi and a discharge time of every 20-30 seconds. If this produces good flow of material you can then adjust either air pressure or time between discharges or both.
For the VA-12 and the VA-51 the recommended operation pressure is approximately 85 to 90 psi. Acceptable ranges are from 70 psi to 100 psi. Again, the objective should be to operate at as low a pressure within these ranges as possible while maintaining the desired flow of material. This will not only keep the air consumption as low as possible but will also extend the life of the Airsweep. In either case, very little is gained by increasing pressures above 90 psi. You would be better off increasing the frequency of discharge.
As with any moving part there will be wear. Periodic inspection will generally be a good practice.

The DAZIC® line of electromechanical, electronic and inductive proximity speed switches indicate or control the rotary motion when attached to equipment.
The speed switches can be interlocked as part of a material handling system to ensure that if one machine fails, the entire operation will stop, avoiding an expensive and time-consuming pile-up of material. These devices are shaft or pulse driven and UL-approved. |
